Group CEO & Managing Partner
Zion Ekundayo Adeoye is a distinguished energy, infrastructure, finance, and taxation lawyer with over 17 years of international experience across Africa and beyond. As Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner of Africarta Advisory Group, he leads a multinational, multilingual team of more than 100 lawyers, tax professionals, and business advisors operating across nine African jurisdictions.
Before founding Africarta, Zion served as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner of CLG (formerly Centurion Law Group), a publicly listed pan-African law firm. He previously acted as Lead Transaction Counsel and Group Legal Counsel to the Transnational Energy Ltd Group, overseeing landmark oil, gas, and power projects in Nigeria. His formative years were spent at the Tax Division of KPMG Nigeria, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), and the premier Lagos firms Olaniwun Ajayi LP and Templars, advising multinational clients on complex energy and infrastructure transactions.
A trusted adviser to governments and sovereign parties, Zion has helped shape energy policy across the continent — advising legislatures, regulators, and national bodies on landmark petroleum and fiscal reform. His expertise spans project and corporate finance, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, target-acquisition structuring, and international taxation.
Zion has led and continues to lead big-ticket, key-sector projects across the continent.
Zion continues to advise multinational companies and sovereign clients on high-value, key-sector infrastructure across Africa's established and frontier markets. A member of the Nigerian Bar Association and the Association of Independent Energy Negotiators, he is fluent in English, with business proficiency in Portuguese and French.
Senior Advisor
Paul Senyomo is a distinguished finance and banking executive with over two decades of experience at the highest levels of advisory, audit, strategic planning, and institutional leadership across Africa. A former Chief Executive Officer of Mercantile Credit Bank Ltd, he has also held senior roles at PwC, DFCU Bank, Hima Cement, Bamburi Cement, and Edes & Associates.
He has earned a reputation as a trusted adviser to boards, shareholders, executive management, and financial institutions on matters of strategy, governance, risk, performance, and long-term value creation — combining executive authority, technical depth, and commercial judgment across banking, professional services, manufacturing, and cross-border advisory mandates.
His pan-African experience spans banking, infrastructure, manufacturing, health, aviation, and investment platforms, with assignments across Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Sudan, South Africa, Algeria, Switzerland, and France.
A Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda, Paul brings a statesmanlike presence, deep institutional insight, and a steady strategic hand to the firm's leadership, clients, and partners.
Managing Partner — Ghana
Maryam Kamara is a corporate lawyer with more than 12 years of practice experience. She has garnered significant deal experience at a leading Ghanaian law firm and as Head of Legal & Company Secretary of a major oil marketing company, advising on commercial, employment, intellectual property, and company law matters.
Maryam also brings significant boardroom experience, having served as a director and board secretary. She has held executive leadership roles including Chief Operating Officer of SPACE Accra, and serves as a Board Member of Amantin & Kasei Community Bank.
At Africarta, Maryam leads the Ghana practice, bringing practical governance insight and rigorous legal execution to complex, cross-sector mandates.
Africa Tax Lead
Akindele is an experienced tax and advisory professional who began his career at KPMG Nigeria, working on audit, tax, and advisory engagements with a strong focus on the energy sector. He is the founding partner of Phillips Akindele & Co., advising clients across energy, financial services, and technology.
He leads Africarta's continent-wide tax practice and has previously coordinated the Africa Tax Desk at a leading advisory firm, supporting multi-jurisdictional tax structuring, compliance, transfer pricing, and dispute resolution.
With prior experience as a Chief Executive Officer, Akindele brings a pragmatic, results-driven approach to navigating complex African tax and regulatory environments.
Managing Partner — East Africa
Brenda Wagura leads the firm's regional strategy, client engagements, and delivery of integrated legal and advisory services across East Africa and key cross-border corridors. Her expertise spans corporate and commercial law, international trade and investment, energy and infrastructure projects, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, and international dispute resolution.
Her practice is particularly distinguished in international commercial arbitration and investor-state dispute resolution, with extensive work under ICSID, UNCITRAL, and the New York Convention — positioning her as a trusted advisor to corporates, investors, and institutions across emerging and developed markets.
Brenda is an active member of the Association of International Energy Negotiators (AIEN), where she serves as Africa Regional Representative for the Women Negotiators Group and contributes to the AIEN Carbon Capture and Storage Taskforce.
She holds an LL.M in International Trade and Investment Law (University of Pretoria), an LL.B (Catholic University of Eastern Africa), and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb) and a Certified Professional Mediator, with advanced training in Trusts and Taxation (UCT) and Real Estate Economics and Development (University of Nairobi).
Managing Counsel — West Africa
Oluwadamilola Laniyan (Damilola) is a seasoned legal strategist and corporate governance professional with over 14 years' experience advising organisations across the energy, infrastructure, financial services, and regulatory sectors. His practice is distinguished by his ability to integrate legal analysis with data-driven business intelligence and financial insight.
He began his career in corporate and company secretarial practice before moving into strategic and operational roles within the power sector, where he played a key role in the corporatisation and restructuring of a legacy government utility — supporting large-scale transformation programmes and the structuring of bids for international development finance.
His experience spans contract management and regulatory compliance, including complex commercial agreements, procurement contracts, power purchase arrangements, and embedded generation projects, as well as regulatory advisory for fintech and payment service providers.
Damilola holds an LL.B from the University of Ibadan and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2012, with professional certifications in Commercial Banking and Credit Analysis, Project Management, and Agile methodologies.
Africa ESG Lead
Dr. Tejiri Digun-Aweto is an experienced ESG and sustainability professional with a PhD and over thirty publications focused on sustainability, conservation, tourism, and community impact across Africa. His work combines academic research with practical, impact-driven implementation.
As Africa ESG Lead, he leads ESG strategy development for energy and infrastructure projects, strengthening materiality analysis, stakeholder engagement, and evidence-based programme design to support long-term value creation.
His experience includes work on World Bank–funded initiatives, collaboration with the UK Department for International Development (DFID), and academic research affiliations with University College London (UCL) and North-West University, South Africa.
Business Development Lead
Soji Koledade is a results-oriented business development executive with over a decade of experience driving strategic growth, commercial partnerships, and market expansion across Sub-Saharan Africa. He leads the identification and execution of value-creating initiatives that strengthen the Group's footprint across its priority markets.
Over his career, Soji has worked closely with stakeholders across private and public sectors — spanning regional consultancies, multinational firms, and entrepreneurial ventures — combining market intelligence with practical strategy implementation to enhance competitive positioning.
Based in Johannesburg, he continues to advise businesses on strategy execution, market entry considerations, and performance optimisation, drawing on an extensive network and multi-jurisdictional exposure.
Analyst — Southern Africa
Dedrick Domingos João is a network engineer and web developer with a degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering and international practical experience across network engineering, web development, and blockchain. He has worked with technology companies in India, delivering network projects with Cisco Packet Tracer and building applications in Angular.
His technical work spans the design and simulation of network topologies, device configuration via CLI, and the implementation of routing protocols and security configurations, alongside front-end development in Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS. He has also served as a blockchain trainer and team leader, and completed an internship with the Instituto Nacional das Comunicações de Moçambique.
As an Analyst for Southern Africa, Dedrick brings a problem-solving mindset, multidisciplinary collaboration, and clear communication to the firm's mandates. He is fluent in Portuguese and English.
Analyst — Southern Africa
Leonardo Jr is a software developer with academic training in Computer Applications and hands-on experience in IT systems, application development, and database modeling. He is skilled in Python, JavaScript, and HTML, and works with Power BI and Excel to build data-driven reporting and visualisation.
His experience includes managing financial records and reporting as a financial secretary, and an IT internship in which he analysed payroll systems, contributed to the development of a salary management application, and supported MERISE system modeling and database design.
As an Analyst for Southern Africa, Leonardo combines technical curiosity with adaptability, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous learning. He is a native Portuguese speaker and fluent in English.
Analyst — Southern Africa
Tevin Arcadio is a Mechanical Engineering student in his final years at the Higher Institute of Transport and Communications in Maputo, where he is developing a strong foundation in analytical thinking, technical problem-solving, and engineering fundamentals.
He is recognised for strong communication skills, integrity, flexibility, and a positive, self-motivated attitude. A federated basketball athlete and baseball player who has represented Mozambique internationally, he brings discipline, teamwork, and a results-oriented outlook to his work.
As an Analyst for Southern Africa, Tevin supports the firm's mandates with rigour and adaptability. He is fluent in English and Portuguese.
